For sea freight, each container on the shipment needs a type (for example 20' dry or 40' reefer) and, once the carrier releases it, its container number. Every order line must be allocated to containers before loading.
VGM
Under the SOLAS convention, a packed container's verified gross mass (VGM) must be declared to the carrier before it is loaded on the ship. Declare the VGM on every container. The order cannot be marked loaded while one is missing (only someone with the loading-override permission can override it, with a reason), and the plan reminds you of the carrier's VGM cut-off.
Loading evidence
- Upload stuffing photos of each container.
- For LCL or breakbulk cargo, record the delivery to the CFS or quay and upload the cargo or dock receipt.
- If the declared gross weight differs from the packed gross weight by more than your tolerance, Expodite warns you; if your organisation has chosen to, it stops the order until someone with approval rights accepts the difference with a reason.
For air freight, the airports are identified by their IATA codes, which Expodite asks for when they are missing.
