Payment terms such as “30% advance, 70% against documents” are split into instalments. Your workflow can make a stage wait for an instalment: for example, production does not start until the advance is in.

When the gate opens

The gate opens when the payments recorded against that instalment reach the required amount, within a small tolerance for bank charges (0.5% or USD 50). A token payment does not open it. Record each receipt on the order's payments, with the amount, the date and the bank account it arrived in.

  • If the gate stops the order, the message names the instalment and how much is still missing.
  • Letters of credit have their own checks: an order paid by LC waits for the LC to be verified clean before production.
  • The gate cannot be overridden: record the payment, or change the payment terms with the buyer (which needs a change order once the order is approved).
