The Incoterm decides where your responsibility for the goods, the costs and the risk ends. Expodite accepts the eleven Incoterms® 2020 rules: EXW, FCA, FAS, FOB, CFR, CIF, CPT, CIP, DAP, DPU and DDP. Any other term is refused on an order.
Warnings you may see
- FAS, FOB, CFR or CIF on container or air freight: these rules are meant for goods handed over at or on the ship. Expodite suggests the equivalent rule, such as FCA, CPT or CIP.
- EXW on an export from Egypt: under EXW the buyer clears the goods for export, but an Egyptian export must be declared by a registered exporter. FCA is usually the better choice.
- DDP: you clear the goods for import and pay the duties at destination, so you need an importer of record there.
These are warnings, not blocks: the choice is yours and your buyer's. The costs you carry under the rule belong in the quote, so your margin is right.
